7 Quick Ways To Increase Energy

by Melanie Mendelson
* Get enough sleep.

The most common fault for decreased energy and fatigue is sleep deprivation. We need an average of at least 8 hours of sleep nightly. A sign that you are not getting enough sleep every night is if you easily sleep in on the weekends.

If you are getting up early, then make yourself go to bed earlier at night to compensate. Just 30 minutes could make a huge impact during the day.

* Get Organized.

Not being able to find anything among out-of-control piles of papers is stressful. Clothes that you never wear, papers that are falling everywhere and useless items that you feel sorry to throw out can invade your space and take over your life.

* Drink 8 glasses of H20.

Being dehydrated makes you feel tired and irritable. If you are not thirsty, that does not mean that you drink enough water. By the time you feel thirsty it's too late - you are already dehydrated.

Buy a water bottle that accomidates 32 ounces or more. Fill it every morning and set it somewhere where you will see it a lot throughout your day, i.e. counter, desk, etc.

* Take a walk.

Walking is documented as one of the best ways to lose weight and increase your energy. You even burn more fat just walking than doing aerobics!

Try to make it a habit to walk everyday. Start out small and this will be more doable and long lasting.

* Stop the routine.

Break an unhealthy routine and regain control of your life. Make small changes and be patient, you will still notice a difference in your mood and energy.

Get out of that rut and do something you have always wanted to do!

* Visit a friend.

Even if you do not feel like visiting anyone, do, it is always worth it. It is amazing how a friend can cheer a bad day up and offer some inspiration.

Carrying excess weight puts additional strain on the body. Even an extra 10 lbs are hard to carry. Try lifting a 10 lb sack of potatoes! Now imagine it being permanently attached to you - day and night.

Excess weight is just that much more your body has to move around all day long. Just think of how heavy a 10 pound sack of potatoes is and imagine carrying that on your body day and night.
